While many (most?) remember him as the iconic Mr. Phelps from Mission Impossible, we remember him fondly for introducing the store to the world of commercials. In the late 70’s, the now long-gone Liberty Bank used him as their spokesperson extolling “good partners” in WNY. Fortunately they chose Vidler’s as one of their partners for a location shoot. He was charming and gracious, and the ad ended up being a better promotion for the store than for the bank! And paved the way for the ‘Bob & Ed’ commercials.
A gentleman and ‘good guy’ — he’ll be missed.
